Standing on the ground where tens of thousands of innocent lives were taken during the Holocaust, Ambassador Müller honored their memory in a solemn act of remembrance.

“Austria feels a deep obligation to preserve the memory of the victims of Nazism. This memory is not only a tribute to those who perished — it is a warning to future generations: fascism, hatred, antisemitism, and intolerance must never be allowed to prevail again. The Babyn Yar Memorial can serve as a vital example and source of inspiration for similar remembrance projects in Austria, ensuring that the lessons of the past remain relevant for generations to come. Together with Ukraine, we remain committed to safeguarding historical truth and fostering intercultural dialogue in the name of peace and cooperation,”
 — stated Ambassador Robert Müller.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Müller and his delegation were given a guided tour of the current exhibition "When the World Falls Apart," led by co-curator Maria Miziina.

Director of the Memorial Reserve, Roza Tapanova, commented:

“One of the core missions of our institution is to ensure that the tragedy of Babyn Yar and the Holocaust in Ukraine becomes an integral part of European historical heritage. That is why we deeply value the visits and engagement of diplomatic representatives — they affirm the shared responsibility to preserve memory and promote awareness.”

Ambassador Müller’s visit stands as a powerful reminder of our shared duty: to remember, to speak the truth of history, and to build a future founded on dignity, respect, and peace.
