On September 28, Kyiv will host the Tenth Annual Babyn Yar Memory March
On Sunday, September 28, at 12:00 PM, the Tenth Annual Babyn Yar Memory March will take place in Kyiv.
The March will begin at the square on the corner of Hlybochytska and Sichovykh Striltsiv streets, opposite the “Kyivska Rus” cinema. As every year, participants will walk to the site of the mass shootings at Babyn Yar—following the same path that, on September 29–30, 1941, more than 33,000 Jews of Kyiv were forced to take before being murdered by the Nazis.

The massacre at Babyn Yar continued until the liberation of Kyiv, claiming the lives of more than 100,000 people—Jews, Roma, Ukrainians, and representatives of many other nationalities living in Ukraine.
Each year, the March brings together participants from Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Chernihiv, Bila Tserkva, Uman, Dnipro, Kharkiv, as well as international visitors, diplomats, representatives of Jewish communities, students from Ukrainian and Jewish schools, and members of the Ukrainian and international media.

What began as a personal initiative has grown into one of the largest Holocaust remembrance events in the world. In 2019, more than 1,000 people joined the March of Memory.
