RESEARCH SPACE: Program of Events, July–August 2026
RESEARCH SPACE is a two-month public project by the National Historical and Memorial Reserve “Babyn Yar”, in which archival documents, books, and film become tools for exploring both personal and collective memory.
The project brings together four formats: — Archive Lab — Film Club — Book Club — Space of Testimony, featuring unique artifacts from the archive of Illia Levitas

JULY
July 10, 7:00 PM — Film Club. Screening of Holofiction, directed by Michał Kosakowski (Germany/Austria, 2025), presented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Ukraine.
July 18, 3:00 PM — Archive Lab. Lecture by Kyrylo Vyslobokov, "Searching for Information in the Archive: How It Works," followed by a workshop, "Digitizing and Preserving Your Family Archive," with the opportunity to scan materials you bring.
July 24, 7:00 PM — Film Club. Screening of Dead Nation, directed by Radu Jude (Romania, 2016).
July 26, 7:00 PM — Space of Testimony. "Belongings of People Who Lived Here Before 1941" — an introduction to the artifacts of the Space of Testimony, with Yuri (Amir) Radchenko.
July 30, 6:00 PM — Lecture: "Analyzing the Historical and Contemporary Context of Babyn Yar," presented by FORMA Architectural Office.
July 31, 6:00 PM — Book Club. Discussion of The Bitter Legacy of Memory by Victoria Khiterer, with Anatoly Podolsky, Sofia Hrachova, and Yuri (Amir) Radchenko.
AUGUST
August 2, 7:00 PM — Film Club. A program of short films from Amaro Kino: contemporary Romani cinema, marking International Roma Genocide Remembrance Day.
August 3, 6:00 PM — Space of Testimony. "Stories of the Dead and the Survivors," with Yuri (Amir) Radchenko.
August 8, 3:00 PM — Archive Lab. Workshop on digitizing family archives, with the opportunity to scan materials you bring.
August 9, 3:00 PM — Book Club. Discussion of Babi Yar by Pavel Polian, with Anatoly Podolsky, Sofia Hrachova, and Yuri (Amir) Radchenko.
August 16, 7:00 PM — Film Club. Screening of Riefenstahl, directed by Andres Veiel (Germany, 2024), presented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Ukraine.
August 22, 3:00 PM — Archive Lab. Workshop on digitizing family archives, with the opportunity to scan materials you bring.
August 23, 3:00 PM — Space of Testimony. "Stories of the Dead and the Survivors," with Yuri (Amir) Radchenko.
August 30, 7:00 PM — Film Club. Screening of The Eichmann Trial, directed by Elliot Levitt (USA, 2023).
All events take place at the Living Memory Exhibition Center, 46A Yuriia Illienka Street. Admission is free.
