On August 2, 2026, commemorative events marking International Romani Genocide Remembrance Day took place at the National Historical and Memorial Reserve “Babyn Yar”. The event brought together representatives of the Roma community, government authorities, international organizations, and cultural figures.

The programme will begin at 11:00 with a Memorial March from the Entrance Gate to the Roma Wagon Memorial, followed by a commemorative ceremony honouring the victims of the Roma genocide.

On July 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM, the "Zhyva Pamiat" ("Living Memory") exhibition center (46A Yuriya Illienka St.) will host a screening of The Dead Nation (Țara moartă, Romania, 2017) by director Radu Jude.

European Memorial Sites established on the grounds of places connected to the crimes perpetrated by the Nazis, Fascists, and their accomplices during World War II constitute a visible legacy of the history that shaped the foundation of post-war Europe.

On 10 July, the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Babyn Yar" launched the summer Film Club programme as part of its public initiative RESEARCH SPACE. The opening screening featured Holofiction, a collage film by Polish filmmaker Michał Kosakowski.

RESEARCH SPACE is a two-month public project by the National Historical and Memorial Reserve “Babyn Yar”, in which archival documents, books, and film become tools for exploring both personal and collective memory.

Where can you look for information about your family? How is an archive structured, and what can you find on your own? How can you preserve what's already at home? Join us on July 9 at 6:00 PM for a lecture by Kyrylo Vyslobokov, "Searching for Information in the Archive: How It Works," followed by a workshop on digitizing and preserving family archives. Both take place as part of the opening of RESEARCH SPACE, our new public project.
